Speech Title: Applications of Output Regulation Principle in Consensus Control and Distributed Optimization

Brief Bio: Zhengtao Ding received B.Eng. degree from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and M.Sc. degree in systems and control, and the Ph.D. degree in control systems from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, Manchester, U.K. After working in Singapore for ten years, he joined the University of Manchester in 2003, where he holds the title Professor of Control Systems. He is carrying out research on optimal operation of renewable energy systems and other methods of achieving Net Zero with CHDER. He has authored/co-authored three books, including the book Nonlinear and Adaptive Control Systems (IET, 2013) and has published over 300 research articles. His research interests include nonlinear and adaptive control theory and their applications, more recently network-based control, distributed optimization and distributed learning, with applications to power systems and robotics. Prof. Ding serves/has served as the Editor in Chief of Drones and Autonomous Vehicles, Subject Chef Editor of Nonlinear Control for Frontiers, and Associate Editor for Scientific Reports, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, IEEE Transactions on Circuit and Systems II, IEEE Control Systems Letters, Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control, Control Theory and Technology, Unmanned Systems and several other journals. He is a member of IEEE Technical Committee on Nonlinear Systems and Control, IEEE Technical Committee on Intelligent Control, and IFAC Technical Committee on Adaptive and Learning Systems. Speech Title: Systems Engineering for the New Grid

Brief Bio: Iven Mareels is Pro Vice-Chancellor Innovation and Executive Dean at Federation University Australia. He is also a Director of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering, and a non-executive Director of Rubicon Water. Previously, he was with IBM, inter alia as Director of IBM Research in Australia (Feb 2018- Mar 2021); and Dean of Engineering at the University of Melbourne (2007-2018).
Iven received the PhD in Systems Engineering, Australian National University (1987), and the Master of Engineering (Electromechanical), Gent University (1982).
He is a Commander in the Order of the Crown of Belgium, and received the Centenary Medal of Australia for contributions to engineering education and research.
He is a Fellow of The Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering; The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the International Federation of Automatic Control and Engineers Australia, a foreign fellow of the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts and an inaugural fellow of the Asian Control Association. Brief Bio: Dr Yifan Chen is a Distinguished Professor in the School of Life Science and Technology, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. He received the B.Eng. (Hons. I) and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and electronic engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He has held various academic and leadership positions in top-tier universities in China, New Zealand, UK, and Singapore across multiple disciplines such as electrical and electronic engineering, biomedical engineering, and computer science and engineering. Brief Bio: Shengyuan Xu received his B.Sc. degree from the Hangzhou Normal University, China in 1990, M.Sc. degree from the Qufu Normal University, China in 1996, and Ph.D. degree from the Nanjing University of Science and Technology, China in 1999. From November 1999 to May 2000 he was a Research Associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong. From December 2000 to November 2001, and December 2001 to September 2002, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher in CESAME at the Universitè catholique de Louvain, Belgium, and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta, Canada, respectively. Assoc. Prof. Ningyi Dai

Speech Title: Modeling, Analysis and Control of the Phase-Shifted Carrier Modulation based Modular Multilevel Converters

Brief Bio: Ningyi Dai received the B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Southeast University, Nanjing, China, in 2001, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Electronics engineering from University of Macau, Macau, China, in 2004 and 2007, respectively. She is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and SKL of Internet of Things for Smart City, University of Macau. She is also the assistant Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Macau. She has authored or co-authored more than 100 technical journals and conference papers in power systems and power electronics. Her research interests include the application of power electronics in power systems, control of power converters and integrated energy system. Dr. Dai is Chair of IEEE Macau PES/PELS Joint chapter. Speech Title: Risk Assessment of Renewable-Rich Power System Operational Security

Brief Bio: Siqi Bu received the Ph.D. degree from the electric power and energy research cluster, The Queen’s University of Belfast, U.K., where he continued his postdoctoral research work before entering industry. Then he was with National Grid UK as an experienced UK National Transmission System Planner and Operator. He is an Associate Head and Associate Professor with Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, and Associate Director of Research Centre for Grid Modernisation. He is also a Chartered Engineer with UK Royal Engineering Council, U.K.. His research interests include power system stability, operation and economics considering renewable energy integration, smart grid application and transport electrification.
Dr Bu is an Editor of IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, IEEE Power Engineering Letters, IEEE Open Access Journal of Power and Energy, CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems, Protection and Control of Modern Power Systems, Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, and Advances in Applied Energy. He is the Standing Director of IEEE PES Power System Relay and Control Satellite Committee, and Executive of IEEE PES Hong Kong Chapter. He is also the Vice-Chairman of IET HK Power and Energy Section. He serves as the Chairman of IET HK Power Symposium 2024, and Co-Chairman of IET International Conference on DPSP 2025 and IET International Conference on APSCOM 2025. He is a Fellow of IET, the K.C.
